Gary Illyes and John Mueller , Google's two most vocal spokesmen, answered questions on Twitter about possible SEO boosts . The former was asked about the value of Google Analytics while the latter was asked about the role of exact match domains (EMD) in SEO.
Gary Illyes was asked if Google Analytics is used to collect data about a website, such as bounce rate (or other behavioral data) or PageSpeed, for example. Gary Illyes responded categorically that no information from Google Analytics is used in the search engine's algorithm:
We don't use *anything* from Google analytics in the "algo".
John Mueller had to answer yet another question about off page seo service exact match domains (EMD) , namely domain names designed with a sequence of keywords for SEO purposes (for example: professional-plumbing-paris-75.fr ). An anti-EMD penalty filter has existed for several years , which tends to prove that keywords in a domain name still have some weight (otherwise, why create a penalty filter?). At least more weight than Google is willing to admit. Indeed, John Mueller was also direct and stated that there is no SEO bonus for EMD.
Well, if there's *no* competition, then do whatever you want. There's no magic EMD bonus.
Of course, there is no specific bonus for exact match domains , but that doesn't mean that keywords don't have a tiny interest for SEO . We notice that overall, domain names containing keywords rank well on their name, so it is a significant strategic advantage. However, nothing says that it is thanks to the domain name itself, it can simply be due to the mentions of the company by its name and by link anchors. John Mueller is therefore partly right, there is no SEO boost for EMDs (which would be the height of it), but the anti-EMD filter is too rarely used to say that there are really obstacles to the creation of domain names that are horrible for users... ^^
